TWENTY SECOND SUNDAY OF THE YEAR
29th August 2010

Important Diary Dates - Click here to see all diary dates

Visit of Pope Benedict XVI:
The Holy Father has asked us to pray that his visit “will be a time of grace for the whole Catholic community”. There are still plenty of prayer cards available at the back of church for you to take home. There are still some copies of the booklet “Heart Speaks Unto Heart” available – there is no charge for these.
During the Eucharistic Prayer of each Mass that is said in church, we pray for the Holy Father and for the Church – at this time our intention should be that his visit to our country will be “a time of grace” not only for the Church community but for the whole country and also for ourselves as individuals.

Annual Fair (Sunday, November 21st) Preparations
Nadia Lamb and the ‘jam-making team’ are looking for appropriate jars for their produce. If you can help please leave the jars in the box at the back of church. Many thanks.

Examination Results
I am well aware that there is much good news around from both A level and GCSE – success for the young people, resulting from their own hard work of course, but well supported by their parents and teachers. Congratulations to all and every good wish for the next stage. (Nice to see Sophie and Tom pictured in the paper!) Please keep our young people and their families in your prayers at this important time of ‘transitions’

Thursday, 2nd September: St Gregory’s Primary School re-opens for all pupils.
Thursday, 2nd September: All Hallows Catholic College re-opens for students in Years 7, 12 & 13.
Friday, 3rd September: All Hallows Catholic College re-opens for students in Years 8, 9, 10 & 11.

Strawberry Fair
The final financial details are now available from the Strawberry Fair held at Savio House. When the expenses had been paid, the following donations were made: £150 to the Christie Hospital; £220 to the East Cheshire Hospice; £50 to Savio House. The winner of the ‘candle’ raffle was Pat Moore. Thank you again for all the effort and support that made the event such a success.

Churches Together in Bollington
The Annual Cricket Challenge Match will take place (at the usual venue) on Sunday, 12th September, at 2.00pm. Each parish has been asked to provide five cricketers. Anyone who would like to represent the Parish should give their names and telephone numbers to either Wendy Clarke (575 334) or Fr Francis.

Please contact Fr Francis as soon as possible, as the Programme gets underway this month.

Project 2030
In your 20s? The twentysomethings have a regular programme of events for Catholics in their 20s.
Things coming up include:
Snowden, visit Chester Zoo, week in Taize, weekend in London, Edinburgh Festival, visit the Holy Land.
If you’d like to receive more details of these and other events locally contact hugh@project2030.fsnet.co.uk or text/ring Clare on 07950 202205.

Hospital Visiting
If you know of any parishioners who are in hospital and would like to be visited, please give the details to Father Mageean who will arrange for a visit.

Readers
Some readers have requested Mass leaflets for the following week. These are always available from the vestry. Just pick one up after Mass.

Parish Hymn Books.
From time to time we replenish our stock of parish hymn books. If you would like to dedicate a hymn book to a loved one who has died, we are able to do this by putting a dedication in the front of the book. If you wish to remember someone in this way just ask Father Francis or Pat Cohen. A donation of five pounds goes towards the cost of the hymn book.

St Gregory's Parish is now a FAIRTRADE Parish
